A sculptural lamp drawn for one place

Part of my work appears on no product page: pieces drawn for one particular place, to the height of a ceiling, the width of a table, in a colour that answers a wall. Here is how it goes, and what it costs in time.

What we mean

Bespoke means three things

Size. This is the most frequent request. The sculptural lamps run from 95 to 200 cm, and between those two limits you choose the size that suits the place, not the one in the catalogue.

Colour. Natural paper and carbon black are permanent. Sage, ivory and brick are the current colours. Any other colour can be prepared: the pigments are mineral and mixed through the mass, so the colour is in the material rather than laid on top.

Shape. This is true bespoke, and the longest: a new drawing, new tooling. It only makes sense for an important piece or a small run.

The steps

How it goes

We talk about the place first: what surrounds it, the height available, the daylight, what the piece has to do. Then I draw, and I quote. The order is confirmed by a proforma, with a 50 % deposit on order and the balance on despatch.

Then making — two to three weeks for a variation in size or colour, up to three months for a new shape, tooling included. I deliver it packed, and I stay the person you talk to afterwards: I made the piece, so I repair it if need be.

  • How manya single piece or a run — not the same work, not the same price.

Trade

Architects, hoteliers, fitters

Interior projects have their own constraints: trade terms, high-resolution images, technical sheets, firm deadlines. All of it is arranged through the trade area, with an account.

The pieces can also be seen in person, in the shops that carry them, and the workshop can be visited by appointment.
